Russia claims to have successfully defended against several drone attacks in the Ukraine war

According to Russia's defense ministry, their forces have successfully taken down numerous drones across eight different regions in the country.

The most significant attack occurred in the southern region of Krasnodar, targeting an oil refinery. Fortunately, no casualties were reported from the resulting fire at the Slavyansk-on-Kuban refinery, which has since been put out.

These recent strikes coincide with Russia's controversial general election, where President Vladimir Putin is expected to secure another term.

Officials mentioned that 17 drones were deployed against the Slavyansk Oil Refinery, all of which were neutralized except one that caused the fire upon falling.

Unfortunately, it's believed that one person suffered a fatal heart attack during the strike.

This marks the sixth oil refinery to be targeted in Russia within the past week.

In other news, Moscow's Mayor Sergei Sobyanin shared on Telegram that four drones were successfully taken down in various locations as they approached the capital early on Sunday.

The defense ministry also reported intercepting four drones in the Yaroslavl region, which is north of Moscow.

Additionally, the western Belgorod region, close to northern Ukraine, has also experienced an attack, as confirmed by its governor.

Vyacheslav Gladkov revealed that four drones targeted the village of Oktyabrsky, causing damage to electricity and gas supply lines due to the explosive devices they dropped. Thankfully, no casualties were reported.

Additional drone incidents were also documented in the Kaluga, Oryol, Rostov, and Kursk regions.

This marks the second time Belgorod has been attacked over the weekend.

On Saturday, authorities attributed a bombardment that resulted in at least two deaths to Ukraine. Following this incident, shops and schools were closed as a precautionary safety measure.

Russian officials also reported that Ukrainian drones targeted two oil depots in the Samara region, located in western Russia.

President Putin has accused Ukraine of attempting to disrupt his re-election bid for another six-year term. He is widely expected to win due to the absence of a credible opponent. However, critics describe the upcoming vote as lacking both freedom and fairness.

In addition, there were reports of multiple Russian airstrikes on the Ukrainian port city of Odesa on Sunday. This follows a recent double missile attack that claimed the lives of at least 20 people and injured many others.

According to Ukraine's southern defense forces, they successfully shot down 13 Iranian-made Shahed drones. Although no injuries were reported, the attack did cause fires at two agricultural sites and resulted in building destruction. Thankfully, the fires have been extinguished.

Furthermore, another drone was intercepted and shot down in the Mykolaiv region.
